Shamsul Alam Liton is a broadcaster, journalist, and editor of the Weekly Surma newspaper which is a renowned weekly publication targeted at the Bangladeshi community in the UK.

Apart from his work in journalism, Shamsul Alam is a veteran activist and Founder trustee of Atish Dipangkar University of Science and Technology (ADUST). He is also an eminent civil rights activist; acting as Convenor of Support Life UK, a UK based anti capital punishment movement.
Mr Alam is also a graduate and Alumni of the University of Dhaka on Social Sciences and later achieved his second Degree on Law from Leeds Beckett University, UK.
